I resign

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I finally write my letter of resignation and hand in my notice. My working life is coming to a temporary close. And this is what I write:

In accordance with the terms of my written contract, I hereby give you over 4 weeks notice of my intention to resign from my current role as an Auxiliary Nurse. The week beginning 4th August will be my final working week. I hope to take any outstanding annual leave after this date.
I am immensely excited to take up my place at the University of Manchester to study Medicine and Surgery having successfully gained the offer earlier this year. I am under no doubt that the vital clinical skills, beside manner and knowledge of ward life will continue to benefit me throughout medical school and even the rest of my career. I feel privileged to have worked with some of the most hard working, hilarious and outstanding practitioners - which quite frankly sets the bar very high for my future colleagues. It is with many thanks to the ward for encouraging me and inspiring my ambition that I will one day become a doctor - and if this year is anything to go by, i’ll love every minute.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank each senior member of staff for their excellent leadership, guidance and occasional reassuring pep talks. My experience here has been nothing less than incredible.
Finally, thank you so much for the opportunity to work on ward x.
And I meant every word ^.

Even though I went through a bit of a rough patch in the first few months, hating nights, feeling a bit suicidal when that nurse made me cry and worrying I wasn't liked or that I was crap at my job: having finally settled in - I could do it for another year, easy.

The good news is the excellent ward manager sorted out my off duty that I was moaning about in my last post, I picked up more money than my newly qualified nurse did last month (having done 8 nights!) and I got my tax rebate!!

Onwards and upwards.

[Travel plans update: After my mom went so wild about Morocco and it's "safety" quick change of plan. Rather than doing 1 long trip, I'll do 3 smaller trips. Hello Ibiza (or "the authentic side of spain" as I pitched to my mom) and Budapest with my friends and a farewell trip with my mom to Florence (may be? if she doesn't drop out?) where i've taken it as an excuse for her to spoil me before I go. Sorted]

  1. Congratulations! Manchester is amazing as well so good job :D

Regarding your travelling, splitting it up actually sounds better, purely because you now have three holidays to look forward too. My dad went very weird when I first suggested going to South America. Parents be cray cray.

    1. Very chuffed if not a little anxious about the PBL jazz!

That's true, figured 3 countries > 1 country and all that, even if in my mind I was destined to be some sort of adventure explorer :")
